Among the Voidborn Ancients, no figure is more mysterious than the Ebon Executioner Prime. No one truly knows what he is. Some believe the title has passed from one supreme champion to another for countless ages, with each successor inheriting the mask, the name, and even the memories of the one before. Others insist there has only ever been a single Executioner Prime, a warrior so ancient that he has witnessed the rise and fall of empires, and whose true name even the Archons dare not speak. Yet the most devoted priests of the Cult of the Blade tell a different story. They claim that the First Executioner was not born of flesh, but was forged by the God of War itself, and that every battle he fights is nothing more than the continuation of that divine will.
Whatever the truth may be, his mastery has long surpassed anything that can be explained by skill or experience alone. No swordsman in the galaxy can equal him. Across uncounted millennia, kings, archmages, cosmic knights, monstrous overlords, and the greatest champions of countless civilizations have all fallen beneath his blades. To him, battle has never been a path to power. It is a sacred rite, and every worthy opponent is another offering laid before the ancient oath that drives him onward. For this reason, the Executioner Prime often vanishes for decades or even centuries, wandering the stars in search of an adversary worthy of his next duel.
Even the Great Archon treats him with careful respect. The ruler of the Voidborn Ancients lavishes the Cult of the Blade with resources, allows its temples to flourish, and never interferes with the Executioner's endless hunt. Many see this as a mark of honor. Others whisper a simpler truth. The Archon understands that as long as the Executioner Prime remains consumed by the pursuit of ever greater prey and ever more glorious victories, his gaze will never turn toward the Obsidian Throne. For if the greatest warrior in the galaxy should ever find himself without a worthy challenge, he may decide to discover whether the Archon himself deserves to rule. And on that day, no one would dare predict who would leave the throne room alive.
