An orphan of industrial ruins, Rovan was taken in by the templars and sent to the grim academies that teach defense against wicked sorcery. There, his will was forged as mercilessly as the steel pressed in factory molds.

Now he is an unshakable templar, able to withstand any magical assault through sheer iron faith. His origin in the lowest strata taught him the value of human life, yet true wrath awakens in him when he faces those granted wealth and power — and who betrayed the righteous path. Among the highborn, Rovan burns out heresy with doubled resolve.

Within Garrett’s squad, he has become an irreplaceable hunter of abominations and magical corruption; his instincts and endurance long surpassed the limits of an ordinary warrior.

But in recent weeks everything has begun to shift. The heretics they capture more and more often bear a strange black mark on their faces, and Rovan is haunted by dreams. In them, the Night itself — as if made of a thousand glass shards — calls out to him by name.
